Privacy policy

Last updated October 20, 2026

Home Ice (the app) and the Home Ice club website are made by Mason Weems ("we"). This policy explains what they do with information.

In short:

What the app stores on your device

The app saves what you enter or create on your own device: player first names and age groups, stickhandling and shooting results, levels, settings, reminder times, and shot replays. Unless you share or join a team, or your team joins a club (see below), this information never leaves your device.

Camera, microphone and speech

Local network and reminders

The app can connect your iPhone directly to a nearby iPad so the iPad can show the scoreboard. The connection goes straight between your own devices. Practice reminders are notifications your device schedules and shows itself; nothing about them is sent anywhere.

Teams (iCloud)

A coach can create a team and share a join link. Parents and other coaches who tap the link join the team. The team's data is kept in Apple's iCloud, in the iCloud account of the coach who created the team, and copied to the devices of everyone who joined:

Coaches who join see the whole team. Parents see first names and team results. Video, replays, sound and location are never shared. Anyone with the join link can join, so only send it to your team. You can leave a team at any time; the coach who created the team can stop sharing, which removes the team's data from iCloud. We can't see team data.

Sharing home practice with the team (optional)

If a parent turns on "Share home practice with the team" for their child, that child's home stickhandling turns (drill, date, length, touches, stars) and a daily count of their home shots and goals go to the team's iCloud space described above. Video, replays, sound and location are never shared. Turning it off removes the child's home results from the team.

Clubs (optional): Home Ice's club service

A club or association can use Home Ice to see how all its teams practice. This is the one part of Home Ice that uses a server: the club service, which we run on Supabase (a hosted database), with the club website hosted by Cloudflare.

What the club service stores:

What it never stores: children's names, any one child's results, video, sound or location.

Who sees it: the club's directors, signed in on the website or in the app. A team's coach puts the team in a club by typing the club's code; their phone then sends the team's totals after practice. We run the service, so we can technically reach this data. We only look at it to keep the service working or when a club asks us to, and we never sell or share it.

Signing in: directors get a one-time code or link by email. Those emails are sent through Google (Gmail). The website keeps the director signed in using your browser's storage; it uses no tracking cookies. Cloudflare and Supabase keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect their services.

Removing it: a coach can take their team out of the club at any time in the app, and a director can take a team out on the website. Either way the team's totals are deleted. A director can leave a club in the app. A director can delete their account at any time, in the app (Club settings › Delete my account) or on the website. That also deletes any club they're the only director of, with its team totals. You can also email us and we'll delete it within 7 days.

When you share

If you choose to share a recap, a team board, a club report or a video, you decide where it goes, using the standard iOS share options. From then on, the privacy practices of whatever app or person you share with apply.

Children

Home Ice is set up by parents, coaches and club directors, who may enter children's first names and age groups to keep track of turns, levels and goals. Children's names stay on the device where they were entered and, for team players, in the team's iCloud. They never go to the club service or to us. We recommend first names or nicknames only.

Analytics, advertising and crash reports

There's no advertising, no analytics, no third-party code that collects data, and no tracking. If you've chosen to share app analytics with developers in your iPhone's settings, or you test the app through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports (and, on TestFlight, feedback you choose to send). Apple's privacy policy covers that.

Deleting your data

Changes

If Home Ice ever stores more information online, we'll update this policy before that feature is released, and change the date at the top.
